Society of Government Meeting Professionals’ (SGMP) mission is to enhance and promote the expertise of government meeting professionals. SGMP was founded in 1981 and is the only national organization in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to government meetings. SGMP members are professionals involved in the planning and execution of federal, state and/or municipality meetings on a full- or part-time basis. The objective of SGMP is to improve the quality, cost-effectiveness and impact of government meetings. The value of membership lies in the organization’s educational programs, resources and networking. SGMP currently has 20 chapters nationwide, including the Rocky Mountain Chapter which consists of the states of Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Utah.

Monthly educational meetings are held at member hotel properties in the Denver Metro area (usually the last Tuesday of the month). All meetings include lunch or a reception and have an hour long program which focuses on continuing educational topics that are relevant to the government meeting planning industry. The meetings provide a great opportunity to network with government meeting planners and fellow supplier hotels that welcome government business.
