Education, Resources & Networking

SGMP is the voice for government meetings and the organization is the leader in education, resources and networking for those who work in the government meeting planning industry. Monthly chapter meetings provide education topics specific to the interests of membership, whether they are new to the field or a long time meeting planner or supplier. SGMP provides networking opportunities at the monthly meetings, the Rocky Mountain Chapter Fall Education Conference and the National Education Conference and Expo. SGMP offers additional webinars and online learning opportunities through the national website and social media interaction is available on a local and national level.

Rocky Mountain Chapter Fall Education Conference

An annual education conference is held in the Rocky Mountain region each October. The two day conference features a variety of dynamic speakers and panels relevant to government meeting planning. The conference is attended by a mix of planners and suppliers looking to expand their knowledge and network with their peers and potential business partners. The conference is a great way for meeting planners to experience a town or resort area that is actively pursuing government meetings.

National Education Conference & Expo

The SGMP National Education Conference (NEC) is the largest annual conference catering exclusively to the government meeting planning industry. The conference is held in the spring each year in a destination favorable to government meetings. The NEC program offers education sessions by industry experts and provides an abundance of networking opportunities, including the largest annual trade show for those planning meetings or selling destinations and services to government meetings.

CGMP Certification

The Certified Government Meeting Professional (“CGMP”) is the highest professional designation for government meetings. The CGMP Course provides instruction in ethics, budget and contracting, travel regulations, risk management, ethics and protocol.
